Chaos

Another possible indication that Abby is an extrovert (or is this just obvious to everyone but me):

We went to a different mall and played in their play area and it just struck me; Abby ran into the middle of child chaos and you could just see the joy in her face, her hands tensed and ready to clap with happiness. It was totally a situation which would have made me want to retreat, but Abby just thrived in it.

She does! So often she will approach a kid she would like to recruit (to chase her .. be chased) and if the kid starts to ignore her by yelling to whoever, she will gently touch his/her arm, issue a gentle shushh finger and invite him to re-consider. If that doesn't work she will easily and respectfully leave that kid and search for another "victim". I know I'm just a tad biased, but throughout this process she is interested in having fun - period .. but not only for herself ... I always have the strong sense by watching her every move that she also cares very much that the other kid has fun too by following her lead. I believe that this - some would say - surprising kindness is not only a tribute to Abby but to the loving sophistication that kids this age (Wesley, you and Aaron when you were that age, et. al.) prove time and again IF the parents have modeled this kindness ... which is why I've always been a passionate advocate for the rights and sensitivities of children. Don't get me stahted!!
